Memory Pairs: instructions and practice

Make Memory Pairs your next activity in the game library. Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Make your first input carefully and watch the result. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

An idea for your next attempt

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Refer to the controls when needed.

What you need to achieve

Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Work through the instructions

  1. Turn over any face-down card.
  2. Choose a second card. Equal symbols stay visible.
  3. Unequal cards turn back after a short pause.
  4. Continue until every pair is visible.

Choosing and moving on screen

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.

Follow the example

Seeing a star at the top left and another star in the bottom row gives you a matching pair on a later turn. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Consider the next action carefully.

An important reminder

You cannot turn a third card while a mismatched pair is still being shown. A different version of the game may use a different rule. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
